The drawing below is an illustration of the planning consultants' suggestions for implementing the ten Fundamental Concepts of the University's 2001 Masterplan. Key concepts for development of the Oakland Drive Campus include:

Preserving Open Space, by protecting and enhancing the gracious park-like setting along Oakland Drive;
Creating Campus Activity Hubs, by clustering buildings to create human-scale public spaces and recreation areas;
Developing Districts, with buildings that relate to one another in both appearance and function, with appropriate wayfinding and pedestrian access; and
Distributing Parking along district perimeters, with convenient access from main roads.
